Went to the Deer Park today for an evening walk. Was surprised by the amount and nature of crowd there. There were couples as was to be expected on Valentine's Day. Then there were foreigners, lots of them. There was a band playing Calypso music. It was so different from what it is usually like, there was a certain festive feel in the air.
Quite surprisingly this year Shiv Sainiks seem to have forgotten about Valentine's Day completely. All couples - young and old, married and unmarried, straight and gay should be thankful to SRK for this.
Anyway, overheard a conversation amongst a group of teenaged lads:
Indian Lad(IL) 1: The planning in India is excellent.
IL2: Why do you say that?IL1: What is the date today?
IL3: 14th February.
IL1: Good. What is the occassion on 14th November?
IL2: Jawaharlal Nehru's B'Day.
IL1: Yes and what do we celebrate it as?
IL2: Children's Day.
IL1: Good... now what is the time difference between 14th November and 14th February..
IL3: 9 months
May this year's be fruitful for you: Happy Valentine's Day ;-)
