A pretty girl got married, incidentally, on the same day as my last birthday.
Yesterday she completed 3 happy and fulfilling months in the relationship.
They've also recently bought a car. Therefore, she wanted to gift her hubby a keyring.
Yesterday
-----------------
We get down at the CP metro station from where we usually part ways. She asks me to accompany her to the gift shop to help her make a choice.
We go to the shop but don't find anything good enough. But she's still very happy, and excited. Smiles all over the glowing face of the newly married woman.
Today
----------
I meet her in the morning. Happiness missing, sadness writ clearly on her face.
Yesterday
-----------------
She gets to the metro queue. The rush is much more than normal. She leaves four trains. And considering that she's getting late and missing some quality time with her hubby decides to board the fifth.
And she travels to her home forcefully sandwiched between "ugly, smelling, uneducated, lower-middle class men". Her hand unable to get to her purse to take out the phone to call her hubby. The men amply utilising the 'opportunity', the quality time, to their benefit.
She reaches home, rushes to her hubby, and spends hours crying.

Disturbing...not just the content but the fact this is a reality somewhere!
True.. and its so common that another similar incident has come to my notice within 3 days of this... only don't have the time nor the inclination to word a sequel.
I was told NEVER to take public transport in India for this very reason. I feel bad for her because she felt so powerless and unable to do anything....not to mention so violated and treated like an object.
@ Jess: The biggest problem in India is that people have inured to this shit, and likewise to other shitty things- corruption, begging for what are their rights... etc, and simply refuse to fight back...
